Blown to Bits Chapter 1: Summary
In this chapter I got to acknowledge bits are important in our everyday lives. Starting with the story of Tanya Rider who was gone missing when getting in an accident, but thanks to the enhancement of technology now she was then found. Tanya was found because of her cell phone company that keeps records of her cell phone location. All this involves bits, that are conveyed out by a digital "ping" saying that that is where she is. Not only through her cell phone company was she found but also her bank account, which also involved some activity of bits through the use of accessing her account. I was shocked to know that so much disk storage is being produced that every year it could be used to record a page of information, every minute or two, about you and every other human being on earth. I also learned about Moore's Law which is the founder of Intel Corporation. This law refers to the density of integrated circuits that seemed to double every couple of years. It was pretty interesting because he predicted that his exponential growth would continue for quite some time.
